K-tribe is owned by Karen Davidson . The name came about after trekking through the hill tribes of Thailand where I came upon a tribe of textile weavers called the Karen Tribe. Having always had an affinity with tribal cultures and a passion for textiles and colour I decided that I would name my business after them.
K-Tribe has been around since 2000 in varying artistic endeavors but I am pleased to finally be launching this on-line business with a selection of Cinnabar jewellery that I personally love and have been wearing for many years.
The K-Tribe woman is brave, eclectic and adventurous and is not afraid to adorn herself with colour and beauty . She is not afraid to stand out in a crowd and trust me if you wear these pieces you will get comments so I hope you enjoy them as much as I do and I look forward to adding more fabulous objects to this web-site in the near future.


About Cinnabar

Cinnabar is a mineral that is found near volcanoes and hot springs. Cinnabar has been a traditional art form in China for thousands of years when it was added to Lacquer and carved to make many different art pieces including vases and jewellery. Unfortunately it was never known till recent times that real Cinnabar has a high mercury level which makes it unsafe to wear or have around the home. These days carvers use a simulated cinnabar which they add to the resin to create the rich colours which makes it not only fabulous to look at but safe to wear.

All pieces are made with Sterling Silver and most of them are made by hand to accomodate the irregular and unique cinnabar shapes.
